About the Guards
Our guards range in experience from 1 or 2 years to 10+ years of security experience, from a variety of backgrounds including military, law enforcement, and fire department. All of our guards undergo rigorous physical and technical training upon hiring, so as to meet the Security Base Group standard.
All Security Base Group guards are required to undergo security guard training. Some of the areas the training covers include:
- Powers to arrest (security guard roles and responsibilities) – 4 hours
- Weapons of Mass Destruction & Terrorism Awareness – 4 hours
- Public Relations (how to deal with the community and the customer) – 4 hours
- Observation & Documentation (appropriate techniques in report writing) – 4 hours
- Communication and its significance (who, what, where, when, why) – 4 hours
- Liability & Legal Aspects (roles of the guard) – 4 hours
Armed guards are required to undergo the same training as unarmed guards and must also pass a course in the carrying and use of firearms. The course is typically 14 hours: 8 of those hours are in the classroom and 6 hours take place on the shooting range.
Background checks are conducted through a third party that does fingerprinting through both the California Department of Justice (DoJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). To work as a security guard, all employees must be at least 18 years old and cannot have any felonies.

Security guards play a crucial role in preventing various problems that can arise during events. These may include managing uninvited attendees, preventing theft and vandalism, minimizing traffic disruptions and accidents, addressing conflicts or violence, and escorting unruly guests off the premises.
We can usually provide bilingual guards for your event if the order is placed with at least two weeks advance notice. Please specify your request in the “details of security service” section of the order form, and we will make every effort to accommodate your needs.
